Cell & Gene Therapy
The cell and gene therapy market is comprised of academic and commercial clinical researchers engaged in the development of novel biologic based therapies for the treatment of numerous diseases and disorders. Currently, cell therapy products are often manufactured from an initial source of cellular material (cord blood, muscle, blood, etc) that is modified, expanded and processed into a finished injectable therapeutic dosage. A critical requirement in the commercialization of cell and gene therapy products is the successful hypothermic storage or cryopreservation and transportation of the biologic source material from the source location to the processing facility, and of the finished cell therapy product from processing facility to patient bedside.
According to an August 2006 research report published by Jain PharmaBiotech, the total value of cell-based markets was $27 billion in 2005 and is expected to grow to $96 billion in 2015, as more than 300 companies are engaged in developing cell-based alternatives to medical devices and drugs to treat and possibly cure numerous acute and chronic diseases.
Our proprietary preservation media products offer the best possible preservation, storage, and post-preservation performance (viability and function) of biologic based cell therapy products. Our products have been cited as critical excipient process components for several investigational new drug (IND) applications for cell therapy products.
