Hair Transplantation

Our HypoThermosol technology platform is being recognized by leading members of the hair restoration community as an improved solution for holding follicular grafts during hair restoration. The present standard protocol for hair restoration using a patient’s own grafts involves the removal of follicular grafts from areas of thicker growth on the scalp, holding the grafts in a chilled solution, and subsequent engraftment of the follicles to areas of depleted hair growth. The period of chilled storage of the grafts is being recognized as a potentially damaging interval that may result in cellular damage to the follicular graft (such as generation of free radicals).

Improved preservation using HypoThermosol during this chilled (hypothermic) storage interval may result in overall improved hair restoration along several parameters in comparison to the present standard:

  • reduced inflammation at the site of engraftment
  • improved viability of total grafts
  • enhanced re-growth of new hair
  • thicker re-growth of new hair
Additionally, we are investigating the use of our CryoStor technology platform to one day allow for the banking of original hair follicles for replacement of hair loss as a result of cancer therapy.

We are actively engaging leading members of the hair restoration field to improve methods of preservation for follicular grafts. Please contact us for further information regarding improving follicular graft preservation.
